Northern Waterthrush and Rose Hips
Northern Waterthrush and Rose Hips
8”x8”
oil on canvas
After a day of playing with the family, I went for a sunset walk alone. While walking along Fanno Creek I noticed an abundance of Rose Hips. They were of a variety of species, some sweeter than others. I gathered a mixed handful to dry and make tea. There are many health benefits from Rose Hips, but I was happiest to find an immunity boost in these cold days. On my way back home, I heard some birds singing in the tree tops, and I noticed this little round Norther Waterthrush out enjoying the Rose Hips as well. We shared a long look before heading off in our separate directions. These simple moments are very important for me. I am grounded, and belong in this place, sharing in the enjoyment of the bounty and the space.
