Still Standing
Still Standing
20”x16” Oil on canvas
Dotting the roadside views in older farming communities, dilapidated barns are slowly being overtaken by trees and grasses. We saw this barn from the road in Hillsboro, OR and fell in love with it’s independence and fragile strength. The sun-bleached boards have been left the same bare canvas as the sky, emphasizing their connection. In the painting, the barn is sparingly painted with thin coats of delicate brushwork, while the plants were created with thick, energetic palette knife work. This juxtaposition helps to highlight the stillness, and decay of the barn.
Gallery wrapped canvas with painted sides.

Jack’s paintings often have beautiful texture that add to the depth of the image. This is achieved by building up paint through the creative process. Generally, paintings are dry to the touch at 3 weeks, and are suitable to ship at this point. Full curing of the painting can take as long as one year. Please allow for up to 4 weeks to deliver commissioned or new paintings, and always reach out by email with any questions or needs.
